It's a Tornado, not a Katamari
PostedJuly 19, 2013
The most common thing I here about this game is that it's a rip off of the Katamari Damacy series. Well, while there is a SIMILAR gameplay style, that's really not doing justice to either game. Tornado Outbreak is a unique experience that you really shouldn't compare to other games. Okay, so I'll get the gameplay out of the way first: the idea is that you are a tornado, and you can get bigger by sucking up objects smaller than you. And that is where the similarities to Katamari ends: the rest of the gameplay is it's own. What you're supposed to do in the game is collect these little fire-flyers for plot reasons, and by collecting them you get more time to complete the level and they are also required to complete the levels. There are also "boss fights" at the end of each stage. I say boss fights, but they're more like obstacle courses leading up to a QTE. They aren't that fun, but they certainly aren't bad. Just a little inconvenience to overcome so you can back to the meat of the game. The art-style is cartoony, which actually really works and is pleasing to the eyes. There is a story to the game, but you really won't care about it. You're a tornado, you burn up in the sun, you're collecting orbs for an inter-dimensional being, that's all you really need to know. Really if you're going to play this game, it's going to be for the pleasure of tearing through an environment as a raging whirlwind of destruction, and trust me, it's incredibly satisfying.

Not Bad

This game provides several hours of entertaining gameplay and has solid controls. The graphics are comic bookish but still match the overall tone of the game. This is certainly a good buy.
